The School of Art was founded in March 2008 as a division of the Montreal Center of Chinese Culture and Arts. While its curriculum focuses on dance, the School also welcomes students of Chinese traditional instruments and vocal arts.

The School of Art embraces the same spirit as its parent group MCCCA: the relentless pursuit of mutual understanding and acceptance through artistic expression. Its mandate is to uncover and grow children’s artistic aspiration in the context of Chinese traditional art forms, as part of a child’s healthy physical, mental and social development. For Canadian born children, it is a discovery journey of the beauty of China’s 5000 years of culture and history. For those new to Canada, it is the continuous exploration of legacy of our ancestors, in an encouraging and community-based environment. As the student progresses, they will eventually be invited to put their learnings to practice by joining the permanent dancers of MCCCA on stage. We hope each child leaves practices and walks into the world happier, more self-confident and with increased cultural and artistic awareness.

The teachers, all carefully selected from the best of MCCCA’s trained dancers, will apply disciplined technical training, combined with teachings of various dance form and careful rehearsals, for a complete curriculum. Genuine care, practical experience and a professional attitude define the School of Art and are guarantee of both parent and child satisfaction.
