Zhang, Abby
The Leader of Dancing Troupe, a choreographer and lead dancer. She was born in Beijing. She loves to dance. She learned oriental dance at China Oriental Dance Troupe since she was six and was taking professional training from Beijing Dancing School in Classic Ballet and Chinese Ethnic Dancing. When she was studying at Beijing Institute of Technology, she was leading a dancing troupe of over 30 members as director and attending over 20 performances in different cities of China. She joined MCCCA Dancing Troupe in 2005 and has choreographed group dance “Country of Daughters”, “Red is Red, Green is Green” and “Ode to the Ox”.

The co-Leader of MCCCA Dancing Troupe, and a choreographer and lead dancer. Has learnt everything about dance since her involvement with MCCCA back to the year of 1996.?A true believer?of sharing passion and stories through the universal language of dance, she holds a diverse portfolio of choreographies, group dances, lead dances, and teachings with a creative and artistic thinking. Her preferred?dance style?is modern & hip-hop dance, but with her equal love for Chinese traditional dancing, she merges the Western and Eastern dance concepts (dynamic versus delicate)?to stage art pieces that all audience may relate to. She believes that is it important to showcase the passion & history?of the Chinese people through dynamic art, as the people of the world gets closer together day by day.?
Li, Jing
中心舞蹈团副团长,领舞及编舞。McGill大学本科毕业。她自幼系统学习中国民族舞蹈,一直是小学,初中,以及高中的文艺骨干。曾任初中及高中学校舞蹈团团长。多次在集体以及个人的省,市级舞蹈比赛中获奖,还曾以舞蹈特长生身份被被中国南京理工大学录取。2007年加入蒙特利尔中华文化艺术中心舞蹈团以来担任领舞,并为中心2009年春节歌舞晚会编排和指导了群舞《唐古拉风》等舞蹈。
Huang, Fei
A choreographer and lead dancer, is now a student in Mcgill University, majoring in Economics. Has strong interest in dancing and has been practicing dancing since 7 years old. So far has learned Chinese Folk Dance and Ballet and was awarded in both fields. Joined MCCCA in 2008 as a leading dancer.
Gu, Xiang
A choreographer and lead dancer. Since the age of 11, Xiang has been training in Chinese traditional dance with the MCCCA dance troupe, and has participated in hundreds of performances in cities across Canada and the United States.?Today she is still amongst the most avid dancers of the group, driven by a passion for human expression and the community spirit fostered by MCCCA. Since 2008, she has become the designated trilingual Emcee for the annual Chinese New Year Gala, as well as co-writer of the events script. Xiang has also successfully choreographed and staged the highly acclaimed dances “Paper Cutting Girls” and “Shao Duo Li” and is currently active in the MCCCA Creative Group.

A choreographer and lead dancer. Has had 3 years of training in martial arts and Er Hu in Beijing at the age of 8, Having grown up with MCCCA, he has learned Chinese traditional dances and participated in many performances since a small age. His biggest passion and favourite style of dance is Popping, and is able to help choreograph dances by contributing his element of Hip-Hop. Simon Has experience with acting and is currently a student in Dawson’s professional theatre program.

Currently a student studying Engineering at McGill University. She has been in school dance troupes during Elementary school, but only received actual training in classical Chinese dance while living in the U.S. during Junior High. After moving to Canada for High school, she started exploring Ballet and Hip-hop at local dance studios. Recently, she has been inspired by the National Dance Competition for Disabled People in mainland China, and has since then taken Chinese dance seriously as an art and hobby. Lisa has participated several group dances including Red Lantern, Suihansanyou and Water Girl, since she joined MCCCA in 2009.

A student at McGill University majoring in Civil Engineering. Loves Classical Ballet, Jazz, and Chinese dancing equally and strives to improve her technique through hard work and perseverance. Is anything but shy under the spotlight and has enjoyed every performance on stage through the past 8 years. Her other interests include cooking, practicing yoga, reading, volunteering and playing volleyball and the piano. In the near future, she hopes to choreograph a modern dance piece.
